The author, Beth Appleton, describes her book, Gently Down the Stream<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Inspiration to write and illustrate this\u00a0book was\u00a0a result of the\u00a02010 oil spill which threatened Florida’s Gulf Coast. During those scary\u00a0days following the spill, I was given\u00a0the opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0help monitor local\u00a0waters. I photographed, documented and collected water samples to\u00a0observe life under\u00a0a microscope. Much of my\u00a0art still reflects this experience. Gently Down the Stream<\/em> was\u00a0created as an educational tool\u00a0and upon publication was\u00a0used to teach children to care for\u00a0and treasure\u00a0nature.”<\/p>\n
